See The Viral Video That Exposed How Car Thieves Stole A Car Without Its Key Under A Minute

A CCTV footage that exposed how car thieves stole a car in less than a minute without its key has surfaced online.

In the footage released by West Midlands Police, one of the first thefts of its kind where robbers stole a Mercedes by using a signal-relay device to trick the car into thinking they had the keys was shown.

According to the police, the car theft is one of the first "relay crimes" to be caught on camera, where thieves can steal a car without having its keys.

In the footage, two men are seen carrying relay boxes to the car owner's house at 9 p.m. on the 24th of September 2017, after which they used the device to steal a Mercedes parked on a driveway in Solihull, West Midlands in less that one minute.

One of the thieves was later seen driving off in the car that has not been recovered till now, after they had gotten access into it using the relay device.

According to report, the relay boxes are designed to receive a signal from the car key inside the property, that can be picked up through walls, doors, and windows and then transfer the signal to a second box next to the car, which tricks the vehicle's systems into thinking that the key is present, subsequently unlocking it.
