Photo: Nigerian Man Charged To Court In UK For Attempted Rape

A 34 years old Nigerian man identified as Akrin Akinniran, has been dragged to court in UK after he was arrested for a serious sexual assault.

According to report, the police were called on Sunday, 21 October to reports of a serious sexual assault on Lower Clapton Road, E5 in London, after the victim, a 29-year-old woman, had exited a private hire vehicle and was walking along Lower Clapton Road and was approached from behind by the suspect that tried to speak to her.

It was gathered that the woman told the suspect to leave her alone and tried to walk away, but she was grabbed by the suspect who allegedly started kissing her neck and pulled her into an alleyway while he continued to sexually assault her.

It was reported that the woman was able to get away from him and ran to a man who was walking down the road. She asked the man to help her call the police and as he was doing so, the suspect approached the victim and the witness and told him to hang up the phone and stop calling the police.

According to report, as the suspect was coming closer the woman screamed and the suspect ran off from the scene. And when officers arrived at the scene, they were said to have collected CCTV footage from a fast food restaurant and took the woman to an east London police station.

Then on Monday, 22 October, Akinniran reportedly self-presented himself to an east London police station after seeing his pictures that had been taken by a witness circulating on social media.

After he claimed that he was innocent and gave a different account of events from that night. Officers who searched the property where he was staying reportedly found the identical items of clothing worn by the suspect in the photographs. Later on the same day, he was reportedly charged with sexual assault and remanded in police custody to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 23 October where he pleaded guilty.
